Plot:

Patience with this procedure heavy hospital corruption exposé will be rewarded as lurking amongst the botched operations and dodgy financial dealings is a decent political drama as profiteering doctors are more hypocritical than Hippocratic as a public compassionate face masks a desire for prestige, status and money at the expense of the patient.

Il professor Daniele Vallotti (Gabriele Ferzetti), famoso e valente chirurgo, è altrettanto abile nel nascondere la sua vera identità: totalmente incurante del giuramento di Ippocrate, altri non è che il tipico barone universitario con smanie di potere, venale come pochi e quindi facilmente avvicinabile da qualsiasi azienda farmaceutica che intenda mettere sul mercato specialità medicinali di dubbia efficacia: insomma, un vero padrino del ramo. Egli è anche il proprietario di una clinica privata dove seleziona i suoi pazienti in base alle loro disponibilità economiche e, al fine di procacciarsi la fama di benefattore per meglio celare la sua avidità, sia pur di malavoglia dedica un giorno della settimana alle visite ed agli interventi gratuiti in un pubblico nosocomio, i cui pazienti sono tutte persone indigenti che poi lo osannano davanti ai microfoni dei media per le sue presunte innate doti umane. La sua équipe medica è soltanto una pletora di yes men ed incapaci presuntuosi, che gli ubbidiscono come cagnolini e lo servono come un prete all’altare.
