This early film version has full frame - screen is not cropped from both sides (like filmmakers do to every Theatrical/Blu ray release of any film) - so you can see full picture from upper and lower sides.  Also film is in black and white (color was not just turn off, but lightning corrected by Tim Burton to create impression of black and white movie), also there some deleted scenes that not in the finished film.
