'These songs mainly come from other peoples' lives and experiences', schrijft Luka
Bloom in het boekje van zijn nieuwe plaat. De officiële opvolger van het alweer vier
jaar geleden verschenen Eleven Songs opent echter met een prachtig ingetogen liedje
met de titel How Am I To Be? Het tweede liedje is nog mooier en gaat over het
historische bezoek van Queen Elizabeth II aan Ierland, vorig jaar, de eerste keer in
honderd jaar dat een Brits staatshoofd het eiland bezocht. 'She remembered our losses,
she remembered her own, and in that moment, a seed was sown.' Ook de economische
crisis, die zijn thuisland hard heeft getroffen, en de Japanse tsunami van vorig jaar, leverden
inspiratie op voor bijzondere liedjes. Hoop overheerst op deze in muzikaal opzicht
ingetogen en vaak spaarzame plaat. Luka Bloom heeft het nog steeds.
