Pierfrancesco Zalone, detto Checco, rifiutandosi di percepire il reddito di cittadinanza in quanto disoccupato, apre nel suo paese, Spinazzola, un improbabile ristorante giapponese chiamato "Murgia&Sushi". Dopo appena un mese dall'apertura, viene travolto dai debiti e il fisco gli pignora il locale e lo costringe alla chiusura. Per sfuggire ai creditori Checco decide di scappare in Africa
