“My White Dahlia” is a Sarah Waters-style novel of love and mystery, darkness and secrecy. The scene is London, 1950. Adette Salazar is an out-of-work author’s assistant near to destitution; and Dahlia Frobisher is the famous, enigmatic writer who takes her on. Their relationship, strained at first, eventually leads to a Jane Eyre-like romance between employee and employer, which is tested by the difficulties they both seem to experience in being honest with one another.

Adette and Dahlia have secrets which they would rather not share – but even as the latter begins to unburden her heart in the face of the love she has found, the former is still bound by the shadows of her past. Day by day, that past threatens to destroy everything that Adette has come so tenuously to possess; and the question is, whether she can relinquish her hold upon it, in order to embrace a brighter future with Dahlia.

Even as each succeeding mystery is exposed to the light, “My White Dahlia” will keep you guessing, and will keep you on the edge of your seat, until the end. It weaves a dark and disturbing plot, while simultaneously demonstrating the unconquerable power of love and hope.
