Nella primavera del 1900 giunge a Pechino un distaccamento di Marines al comando del maggiore Matt Lewis, per proteggere l'ambasciata americana dalla rivolta dei Boxers. Dopo un ennesimo intrigo politico dell'imperatrice, che mentre invia proposte di pace incoraggia piani di aggressione, la guerra diventa inevitabile. Tutte le delegazioni straniere si uniscono per difendersi. Un gruppo di arditi riesce a far saltare in aria l'arsenale cinese, ma l'assedio dei rivoltosi si stringe sempre piu'.
