From volcanoes, earthquakes, typhoons, avalanches and floods-to those that we humans may have more of a hand in, such as forest fires and landslides.

Using a mixture of rare archive footage and dramatic 3D animated reconstructions, this series shows what happens when natural forces come into conflict with humans-with devastating results.

This film explores the world's most destructive avalanches, from Hannibal's 218 BCE crossing of the Alps and thee use of avalanches as weapons in World War I to deadly avalanches of the late 20th Century. Avalanches are a major threat to mountainside communities and winter sports enthusiasts.Viewers will learn what conditions create avalanches, how rescue efforts proceed after and avalanche, and finally, safety tips for avoiding and responding to avalanches.
