Summary from NTLive



The 'Beaux': Mr Aimwell and Mr Archer, two charming, dissolute young men who have

blown their fortunes in giddy London. Shamed and debt-ridden, they flee to provincial

Lichfield. Their 'Stratagem': to marry for money. Lodged at the local inn, posing as

master and servant, they encounter a teeming variety of human obstacles: a crooked

landlord, a fearsome highwayman, a fervent French Count, a maid on the make, a

drunken husband, a furious butler, a natural healer and a strange, turbulent priest.

But their greatest obstacle is love. When the Beaux meet their match in Dorinda and

Mrs Sullen they are most at risk, for in love they might be truly discovered.

My notes



  This NTLive of The Beaux' Stratagem is the full broadcast version.  But I have

put the intros and featurettes into separate files for those who chose to view

the play and find Part One and two simply.



  A special appreciation to the file sharer who provided the much larger version of

this from a source which has no glitches in Part Two.  That seemed to be the

only one found in the previously-mentioned Proshot series which is named in the

NFO file for this play.



 There are always new actors in these NTLive and RSC plays.  But Pearce Quigley is a

familiar player from many fine Globe productions including Taming of the Shrew

and Midsummer Night's Dream in major roles.



I am grateful to the friend who provided the source.  Here the size is smaller to

many more can enjoy this Simon Godwin production.
