Unabridged King Alfred of England is trying to keep the peace between Vikings and Saxons, and the best way seems to be through a series of arranged marriages. The two fall in love, only to discover that each is the other's intended. Rycca has a strong anti-Viking bias, which is only overcome by her mystical ability to see when people are telling the truth. Dragon is a true gentleman, big, strong, and sensitive, and succeeds in winning Rycca over. But there are parties interested in stopping the marriage before it has a chance to happen.
