British PI Jordan Lacey is back in another madcap adventure in which she has two cases to crack. First, Arthur Spiddock, an elderly gardener, hires Jordan to find his missing farm animals. Jordan figures it's easy money and a less-than-strenuous job. The second case isn't so simple. Holly Broughton has recently been acquitted of the murder of her wealthy and much older husband. She claims she was framed and wants Jordan to find out who set her up. Before Jordan can sink her teeth into either case, she stumbles on a dead body and becomes the victim of a particularly bizarre kidnapping. But the always intrepid, ingenious Jordan, a disarmingly appealing heroine who's a bit of a renegade, is up to the task, as usual. This offbeat series combines meaty plots with plenty of zany goings-on, in the manner of Janet Evanovich, and it is steadily gaining fans among those who like a comic edge to their crime.
