Tom Plum has very recently been discharged from "The Institute for the Culinarily Insane," where he has undergone treatment for his strange addiction to all things edible.

Tom's problem however is not about over eating it is more to do with the seductive quality of food and the need to control his urges and cravings, possibly brought on by the recent surge in TV cookery shows.

We join the character in the first episode as he embarks on his re-had programme which is to take control of a local diner, whilst keeping his yearnings under control and hidden from his work colleagues and friends at the diner.

Tom's only point of contact with the problems of his past is via phone calls to his doctor, Dr Onions, when he is in dire need of support, having overindulged or is feeling himself near to the point of some culinary relapse.
