This follows on the journey of Croaker, one-eye, Goblin and the Lady going south in search of Khatovar. But the further they go south, the more frightened people get. Croaker does not have the the earliest Annal's as they were lost centries ago, which could provide important information. The company find themselve's facing the shadow masters, and virtually stand no chance against them. I really loved this book, I thought is was ace, there much more political stuff in, and cultures and religions. The twists just keep on coming and the action. The only dissapointment I have with Cook's books are, he des not put enough discription, so you can get lost of what exactly is happening. Otherwise his books would be top class. This one is one of my favourite books from the Black Company series, and has plenty of surprises in stock.
