Star Trek Secret Voyage: The series takes place after the completion of the U.S.S. Enterprise's 5 year mission under legendary Captain James T. Kirk and before the events portrayed in "Star Trek: The Motion Picture". A glory seeking Admiral assembles a new crew to perform a covert mission he hopes will obtain an exclusive treating with new race beyond the Galactic Barrier. This once impossible journey is made possible in less than 3 months by using the very element the Admiral hopes to gain access to, a replacement for Dilithium know as Quantalithium. First contact with the alien race goes awry and the Enterprise is called back to earth assuming ships Captain, Calvin L. Mercer and the rest of the landing party are dead. The surviving crew stranded with only the Galileo II is forced to limp back across space and back home.
