After the uninspiring reception of Knot at the Throat and Lady Considine's Sin, Hitchcock makes this film for Warner Bros. Pictures. Hitchcock had been working and living in Hollywood since 1939, however the film was shot in London and Jane Wyman and Marlene Dietrich are the only ones in the cast who are not British.
