Silverado is a 1985 western film directed by Lawrence Kasdan.

Lawrence Kasdan decided to shoot the film following a bet with Clint Eastwood, who challenged the director to fill the theaters with a western in the mid-eighties, when the genre had entered into decline due to the fiasco of The Gates of Heaven. Michael Cimino. Eastwood himself will make another successful western film at that time, entitled The Pale Knight.



The film was mostly shot in New Mexico. The block of filming began on November 1, 1984 and ended on March 31, 1985. It was released in the USA on July 10, 1985. In Italy, after the screening at the Venice Film Festival out of competition, it was released in cinemas on January 16, 1986.
