Summary:
Princess Alicia of Zelig is sent by her father to form an alliance through marriage. Using her gift of telepathy Alicia learns that her brother Stephanus, who is heir to the throne, actually intends to use her marriage to start a war and conquer her husband's lands. Alicia is determined to do anything she can to protect the people who will one day call her "Queen."

Prince Rodion of Eideard has no desire to be forced into a political marriage but his father insists that he must. The Emperor wants peace with Arach Innis and if his marriage to Alicia can bring it then he must submit to his duties. Arach Innis must not fall. Rodion and the other Lunar Dragons are all that is keeping the Mist Reapers from escaping the Gates of Mists and sucking the souls of every living being.
