Czerpie z tego procederu, nie tylko profity dla siebie - dzięki jego przebiegłości, groźni przestępcy trafiają bowiem za kratki. Tego aspektu działalności bohatera najwyraźniej nie docenia inspektor Claude Eustace Teal. Nie ustaje on w próbach schwytania Templera. Urok, inteligencja i charyzma "Świętego" pozwalają jednak mu być zawsze o krok przed policją.
