In the first episode, Judge Rinder examines the case of Laura Davies who was murdered by her 22-year-old boyfriend Jordan Taylor. Jordan was an unemployed martial arts enthusiast with a temper and Laura’s family knew that something wasn’t right. When Laura tried to end the relationship, she ran out the house and a passer-by witnessed her murder.

It also reveals the case of Andreas Christopheros who was attacked at his own home when a beaker of sulphuric acid was thrown into his face, while his wife Pia and their 18-month-old son slept in the next room. While doctors battled to save Andreas’ life, it was down to the Devon & Cornwall police to catch the man who was responsible and find out why.
