Supermolot is a modern square grotesk with the elements of the Soviet style.

Before TypeType became an official commercial foundry, typographer Ivan Gladkikh was already well known for his free fonts—at least as Jovanny Lemonad, his alter-ego. Many of his early typefaces have been expanded into entire families in TypeType's catalogue.

Supermolot was one of these faces. First released by Gladkikh and fellow tyographer Roman Ershov under the name "Molot" in 2008, the two designers continued developing it until 2014's re-release as Supermolot: a complete family of five weights plus italics, support for over seventy languages and hundreds of kerning-pairs. Though it is no longer a free font, its two creators have decreed that all proceeds from the sale of Supermolot will go to the creation of new free and low-cost fonts.

After the creation of Gladikikh's foundry TypeType, it was released again in 2015 as TT Supermolot. At a quick glance, one can see that TT Supermolot is a lighter font: each of its weights are a bit skinnier. Other notable differences include more kerning-pairs in TT Supermolot, however less glyphs per font than its predecessor (which I find very odd). Given these distinctions, I thought it best to include both!
