With the help of a smooth talking tomcat, a family of Parisian felines set to inherit a fortune from their owner try to make it back home after a jealous butler kidnaps them and leaves them in the country.

Madame Adelaide, una ricca attrice a riposo ormai sulla strada della vecchiaia, nomina eredi universali i suoi quattro gatti: Mamma Duchessa e i cuccioli Minou, Bizet e Matisse. Il maggiordomo Edgar, destinato a sua volta ad ereditare le intere sostanze alla morte dei gatti, e ansioso di mettere al piu' presto le mani sulle ricchezze della padrona, decide di sbarazzarsi degli incomodi concorrenti a quattro zampe. Condottili in una zona isolata di periferia, si accinge ad eliminarli, ma viene messo in fuga dall'intervento di due cani randagi. Rimasti soli, Mamma Duchessa e i suoi tre micetti si imbattono in Romeo, un gatto vagabondo dal cuore d'oro, il quale si impegna a ricondurli dalla loro padrona. ...
