The Legendary Blues Band was a Chicago blues group formed in 1980 after the breakup of the Muddy Waters Band. In June 1980, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith (drums), Pinetop Perkins (piano), Calvin "Fuzz" Jones (bass), Luther Johnson (Guitar Junior) (guitar), Bob Margolin (guitar) were out of work. ) and Jerry Portnoy (harmonica). The year before, Smith, Johnson and Perkins had supported John Lee Hooker and Big Walter Horton in The Blues Brothers, playing a live version of "Boom Boom" at Maxwell Street Market. Smith was the only band member to appear in close-up. In 1981, Portnoy, Jones, Smith and Perkins were joined by Louis Myers on harmonica and guitar and the Legendary Blues Band was formed, using the Muddy Waters name to represent them on stage. They recorded their debut album "Life Of Ease" on Rounder Records. Duke Robillard co-produced and played guitar on the second release, Red Hot 'n' Blue (1983).
