Very few statisticians are able to communicate their ideas to meteorologists, and very few meteorologists are able to apply modem statistical methods in ways that satisfy
statisticians. This book written by a statistician (H. J. Thiebaux) and a meteorologist (M. A. Pedder) is therefore very welcome indeed, although it will be rather heavy going for some meteorologists. I can visualize the book as being particularly effective in convincing statisticians that meteorological space-time fields are sticiently interesting to merit their attention
