Il settantesimo Festival di Sanremo si è svolto al Teatro Ariston di Sanremo dal 4 all'8 febbraio 2020 ed è stato condotto da Amadeus, il quale è stato anche il direttore artistico; nel corso delle serate è stato affiancato da Fiorello (tranne che nella terza serata) e da nove co-conduttrici: Rula Jebreal e Diletta Leotta nella prima serata, Laura Chimenti, Emma D'Aquino e Sabrina Salerno nella seconda, Georgina Rodríguez e Alketa Vejsiu nella terza, Antonella Clerici e Francesca Sofia Novello nella quarta, e le già citate Diletta Leotta, Francesca Sofia Novello e Sabrina Salerno nella serata finale. Tiziano Ferro è stato ospite fisso della manifestazione riproponendo, sera dopo sera, alcuni dei brani più famosi del suo repertorio insieme ad altri che hanno fatto la storia della kermesse sanremese.



Durante la terza serata, denominata Sanremo 70, si esibiscono tutti i 24 Campioni con brani che fanno parte della storia del Festival di Sanremo. Gli artisti, in questo caso, possono scegliere se essere accompagnati o meno da ospiti italiani o stranieri; tutte le esibizioni sono votate dai membri dell'orchestra.
