Ezhil is a civil engineer who dreams of settling down with the woman he sees in the elevator of his high-rise office. One stormy night, a man is murdered and the police find photographic evidence of a suspect leaving the scene. Inspector Gopalakrishnan recognizes the face as Ezhil and brings him in for questioning. Hours later, con man Kavin is brought in for drunk driving and the police realize the two men are identical in appearance. Gopalakrishnan and Sub-Inspector Malarvizhi are divided in opinion as to which man is guilty and they each search for evidence to convict the killer.
