Features 24 bit remastering and comes with a mini-description. With Bobby Jaspar (flute) and Frank Wess (flute). This album is top-notch. Piano is by Tommy Flanagan or Hank Jones, and Kenny Burrell plays guitar on the whole album. Tracks include "Ghana", "Connie's Blues", "Sandy", "I'm Afraid The Masquerade Is Over" and "Bag's New Groove".

I have a large collection of Modern Jazz Quartet and other recordings that feature Milt as leader, co-leader and sideman, but this is among my favorites. One reason I like this album so much is the way vibraphones and flutes complement one another in the arrangements. Another reason is I am a fan of the great Belgian flautist Bobby Jaspar who is on two tracks.

Instead of my pushing preferences based on my personal tastes, the best way for you to determine if this album is one that you will like is to listen to the sound samples on this page. There is no amount of words I can write that can better describe the tracks than the brief few seconds those samples provide.

The album itself was recorded over a period of three sessions in NY for Atlantic Records on May 21, and June 10 and 17, 1957. During those sessions Milt backed by Frank Wess on flute (except Bags' New Groove and Connie's Blues, which was Bobby Jaspar), Hank Jones on piano (except Bags' New Groove and Connie's Blues, which was Tommy Flanagan), Kenny Burrell on guitar, Percy Heath on bass and Art Taylor on drums.
