With her life under threat from a right wing extremist militia group, the last thing Nancy Kronziac needs is to be drawn into a case that involves the disappearance of a sixteen-year-old girl.



She does find the girl, wrapped in a bin liner and buried at the bottom of a sewage tank.

Now a disappearance has become a murder investigation.



Kronziac's search for the killer reveals a series of mysterious cryptograms and riddles received by various police departments throughout the western states.



Enlisting the help of James Ellstrom, a Harvard professor of mathematics, they begin to crack the codes, only to reveal a pattern of mutilated victims.
